「十二夜」

昨日新橋演舞場で歌舞伎を見た。
「十二夜」という歌舞伎だった。
席は5例で、真ん中で、とてもいい席だったけど、高かった・・・
でも初めてそんなに近くて見てって、すごかった!
Went to watch Kabuki on Saturday with Pamela.
It was the first time I was so near the stage. 5th row from the front, right smack in the center. But the ticket was freaking ex...
But the experience was good! And I was really impressed by the stage and the use of the props.
This Kabuki that I watched on Saturday is actually "Twelfth Night". Sounds familiar? Yupz, it is the world famous Shakespeare's play.
It is really interesting when you see an English play being adapted into a traditional Japanese art form. I thought that it was a really good experience to come and watch this. This particular Kabuki performance was also performed in London.
What Pamela and I thought was particular interesting was the names that the Kabuki performance used.
Olivia - Oribue Hime
Sir Andrew Aguecheek - Ando Eichiku
Maria - Ma
Viola - Biwa Hime
Malvolio -Maruo Bodayu

and so on...
